Slow, maybe, but Beautifully Slow May 08, 2004
By LiLKidneys I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to hear "Amazing Grace" any other way but slow. Lari White sings it beautifully, with reverence. That's the way most of these tracks are. The females are the highlight. Lari White, Martina McBride, Susan Ashton, Allison Krause, and of course Emmylou. The production values are better than you can find on any country gospel album. I think Martina McBride's "How Great Thou Art" is being played on loudspeaker at the pearly gates for eternity. I'm not overly religious or emotional, but this album sooths my soul and brings a tear to my eye.

A real blessing! Jul 04, 2003
By Teresa Ramey Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! This TRADITIONAL version of these timeless classics really brings back the memories. What wonderful rendtions performed with the original scores and at a worshipful and appreciative tempo. This is not a youthful exciting version of the classics, this is the GOOD STUFF! The way I remember them, you can hear the sincereity and praise in the artists voices! This is a vocal and spiritual homecoming.

Predictably good recording May 09, 2000

There's a myth of sorts that says that if you're a Christian you have to buy gospel music, and vice-versa. I didn't buy this because of any religious or gospel reason; I bought it because I liked the artists. Going by that standard, it was very much predictable -- solid artists = solid songs. The one standout here is Martina McBride -- when she sings "How Great Thou Art," you feel as though God himself commissioned the recording. She is truly that spectacular. The rest of the disc is pleasant and charming.

Excellent recordings by well known country artists. Jan 17, 2000
By David Schwartz This is one of my favourite Country Gospel CD's. Some of Country's most prominent artists are featured performing classic Christian hymns. Lari White does "Amazing Grace" unlike anyone I have ever heard. Billy Dean and Susan Ashton team up for "In the Garden". "Mansion Over the Hilltop" is done superbly by Paul Overstreet. The Charlie Daniels Band with "Kneel at the Cross" and Emmylou Harris with "Precious Memories" are both uplifting and superb recordings. This compilation is a must for those of us who love Gospel and Country music.

An Excellent Collection of Gospel Favorites Oct 20, 1998 I discovered this title by accident at the public library. I loved it immediately, and bought my own copy. The old classics are played in various styles that would have you believing they were written only recently. The recording quality is excellent, and the collection of artists used prevents the sound from becoming repetitive. A MUST BUY for Gospel music lovers.
