After doing an extensive search for a boot that was durable, comfortable, practical and 'authentic' I settled on Ariat boots. As anyone will find, Ariat has a mind-boggling selection of boots. From that selection I narrowed it down to their Rambler and Blackwater and leaned toward this Blackwater. I love the color and shape. I read the reviews of the Blackwater and some seemed to like it while others hated the fit. As boots are the kind of thing you keep for awhile it's always good to know exactly what you're getting. More importantly, it's good to know how well it will fit as some brands run tight, some loose while others are dead on.
So I went to my local western store and tried them on. They didn't have the exact Blackwater I was looking for (heel was different) but they had as close as it gets and could order it with the same heel Amazon offered if I wanted it. I'll tell you, I'm glad I actually went to the store rather than hit the 'buy' button online. The Blackwater's fit wasn't what I wanted AND the color I thought looked great online didn't appeal to me as much as others. I found I prefer a little more gloss. The salesperson explained that the Blackwater has a tight fit because it's cut back to rest against the top of the foot. That means you really have to work to get these on. Seriously. I mean I was yanking with all my might and I'm in shape. Once I got them on I found they were form fitting which wasn't what I had in mind. A great boot but just not what I was looking for.
I tried on several different pairs of Ariats but kept comming back to a pair of all brown Ariat Heritage Western R-Toes. I would have never bought them online because they just didn't look right but in person they look as cool as it gets. They're a very beautiful brown (they call it Timber) and such a comfortable fit. They feel mostly broken in and can be worn all day without any serious rubbing you typically get from new boots. I can't be happier. And I found the fit true to size (I'm an 11D). I bought my pair then and there from the store.
That said, there's nothing wrong with buying online, especially when you can find a great deal. But you would do yourself a favor by going to a local store and checking any of these out first. You might be pleasantly surprised, as I was. I look forward to many more pairs. :-)

Since the size and appearance wasn't exactly what I expected, I can't comment on the product quality other than it was new and delivered on time. I have no complaints other than the size did not say EE when ordering.

I wish I had bee told they are made in China. And just about impossible to get on even though I ordered 1/2 size over. Rated junk.

Ordered for my son for Christmas. Very comfortable. Just as expected. Fast shipping with Amazon Prime. Would definitely order another pair when he outgrows these.

Searched for a couple weeks over many websites for an everyday pair of boots, finally settling on these Blackwater's. Perfect fit, very comfortable and a great "raw" color. Wish they were available in Black, would be all over it.
