He carefully crafts the songs he records, tweaking lyrics and melodies until they are just right. Keith might argue that a song is never perfect, but judging from the rapid success of his latest single, "Sweet Thing," fans do not agree. After only ten weeks on the chart, the lead single from Keith's March 31st release, Defying Gravity, has already cracked the Top-10! "Defying Gravity comes from the lyrics of a song on the album and it just struck me at the time as a phrase that really defined the joyous, optimistic and uplifting spirit that seemed to show itself while making the album," says Keith. | | | |

Refreshing, relaxing, and heart warming Mar 31, 2009
By Niente di Speciale I listened to this CD for the first time, and I just really enjoyed it. All the songs are fresh and new but sound so natural because they are Keith urban music, sound, and rhythm. Some artists' CD sounds so different from one another, but I think all Keith Urban CDs have some trusted style - Keith Urban style.
Then, I listened to this CD over and over, and some of the songs are getting my new favorites, not only Sweet Thing, but also "I'm In", and "Kiss a girl", etc. I think this CD is refreshing, relaxing, heart warming to me. I will keep listening to it for many more times and am not sure whether I will ever get board.
Thank you for reading my comment and sorry for my bad English, I am a Japanese living in Tokyo. I thought I am so unlucky because Keith Urban concert never hit here. But lucky this time, because of the time zone I was able to listen to this new album a day before those who live in the States :-)

Another Great Listen Mar 31, 2009

If there is one thing I can say about KU, it's that he is consistent. His releases are full of energy, insightful lyrics, great guitar riffs and heart. "Thank You" is going to get a lot of play at weddings...sort of KU's "Lost in the Moment" by Big & Rich. I was surprised by the drum loops used in some of the songs...I guess Chris McHugh needed a rest from all of the work the past year (KU, Little Big Town)...LOL. KU speaks highly of Radney Foster often, so it's nice to see "I'm In," a crowd favorite of Radney's fans, covered.
There are a huge number of commercial hits on this release so, no doubt, this will be a huge success. His shows are fantastic (I saw him in Los Angeles on the VIP tour Friday night at the HOB) - he's deserving of "Entertainer of the Year" given 140 nights a year at two to 2-1/2 hours a night. If you haven't seen him - you must. Enjoy!

Defying Gravity is Keith Urban at his best Apr 07, 2009
By M. Ross In a world filled with constant uncertainty "Defying Gravity" is just what the doctor ordered. This album is full of joy, love and hope, not to mention the fantastic talent of Keith Urban. It really seems like Keith has come through his Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy thing and emerged a happy, content and joyful person. All of that is reflected on this album.
The songs are full of love and passion and hope. From the first single "Sweet Thing" though the latest single "Kiss A Girl" to the song that should be the next single "Hit the Ground Running" Keith has masterfully weaved his fantastic guitar work with some great lyrics.
I bought this album the day it came out and it hasn't left the player yet. This is a must buy not only for Keith Urban fans, but fans of great music and people who love a love song.

AMAZING! Mar 31, 2009
By D. McCormick Keith does it again! Another great album, every song sounds like a hit. How does he manage to do this with every album? It's rare to find an artist who can do this. Most albums only have a few good songs, but with Keith's albums every song is either good or great. Can't wait to see him in concert May 15 in Chicago!

I Love this Album! Apr 09, 2009

Usually, when I listen to a new album, I jump to the next song, overly excited to hear the next new song. In this album, I found myself not able to do this. I was hooked !, even on the ones I have heard before:) I love every song on this album, and will have to figure out my phone technology to create ringtones for each family member to download all the ones I want:) From the incredibly moving "Thank You" to the amazing "Hit the ground running" and "I'm in" , every song is truly memorable:)
