The new Hummingbird True Vintage is a tribute to the icon of Gibson’s square-shoulder dreadnought acoustic line. While the original Hummingbird has evolved over the years to reflect critical advances in acoustic guitar making, the Hummingbird True Vintage is a throwback to the way the instrument looked and played in 1960, satisfying the demands of even the most discriminating vintage guitar buyers. | | | |

Once you play a Hummingbird. . . Jan 25, 2012
By Sarah Abdella I first owned this guitar 5 years ago and it was stolen; I've been pining after it ever since. Finally, just bought a replacement, thanks to my wonderful husband and his understanding.
The Gibson Hummingbird (esp the True Vintage model) is THE finest guitar I have ever touched or played. This guitar has such a warm, full tone, and butter soft action, that once you play one you will not want to put it down. Before I owned this guitar, I had been songwriting for a while, but once I started writing with this baby, it was like the floodgates opened. The Hummingbird is perfect for a singer/ songwriter. It provides wonderful accompaniment in a beautiful and easy to play package. Unless you have seen one of these guitars in person, you will not be able to truly appreciate it's beauty. I can not wait to pass it on to my children someday (okay, maybe I can wait a bit!), and I know that my Hummingbird will sound and look just as beautiful when that day comes.
This being said, I went into a music store the other day, and for lack of a Hummingbird to play, picked up the Epiphone version. Picking that guitar up was the biggest confirmation that there is nothing like the real thing. It's a real shame to me that they make what I consider a 'knock off' of such a beautiful guitar. The tone and appearance by no mean even imitated the real thing. I'm sure it will be a nice intro instrument for someone, but I wish they didn't put the Hummingbird name on it. I feel that folks who haven't seen the real thing are being deceived.
Everyone always seems to ask if this guitar is worth the money. It depends. . . if you want a physically, tonally beautiful instrument that will last a lifetime; if you want an inspiring instrument, then I would have to say yes. Quality wise, this guitar is worth every penny. I waited 5 years and would have waited longer in order to purchase this guitar again. This time, it is getting insured right down to the tuners. The Hummingbird is not 'just a guitar', it is an instrument, and a very fine one at that. Once you play a Hummingbird, you will not go back.

The best acoustic Guitar I've ever played... Sep 12, 2011
By J. Lockridge
"jllx"
OK...I've been playing guitar for 15 plus years. Owned and played more guitars than most people ever see due to my job, my career and my travels. I've played professionally and semiprofessionally. I've owned and played Martins, Gibsons, Yamahas, Alvarez, Takamine, Epiphone, and more, and I'm not only a player, I'm a tech junkie. BUT, I'm not a "collector"---I don't give a RIP about buying a guitar, putting it in a case, and "securing it" somewhere so that "maybe" I'll make a buck in 10-20 years. I play. A lot. Like Hours and hours a day. I do not own any guitar I don't play..
So...I think you get my point.
In all of my playing, practicing, gigging, an examining, I've NEVER played a better sounding acoustic guitar. Ever. Whether a $10,000.00 J-200 Vintage, or a $200.00 Yamaha, there is NO better sounding and playing guitar than this one. It is a guitar player's guitar.
Sure, it looks GREAT. Sure, it's got all the appointments and it IS a great investment that copies the original "Hummmingbird". But, you know what? IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!
Why?
Because it is just soooo GOOD! It sounds so sweet, plays so smoothly, that it becomes part of you. You feel every vibration and overtone and it just rings FOREVER. I'm amazed by this guitar every single time I play it, and I've gotten compliments from the biggest name professionals in Nashville that KNOW guitars. The latest Gibson stuff has not really been met with great applause (i.e., they generally stink, given their price points); however, I can, without hesitation, recommend this guitar with the highest rating. You will fall in love with it. Don't skimp on strings---it really sings best with Gibson's own J-200 .12 or .13 Strings. They last longer, and they really, really do sound the best on this work of art.
This is my desert island guitar. It'll become yours too.
