Can Anyone Say Best Male Country Vocalist? Jan 10, 2005
By Nick Keith Urban's "Golden Road" is the first cd I bought from a male country artist. It is AMAZING!!! Here is how I rate each song on the album (in a 5 star scale):
1) "Somebody Like You"- great song, nice instrumentals, lengthy and it spent 6 weeks at the top of the country charts. (5 stars)
2) "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me"- one of my favorite uptempo songs ever. This song instantly made me a fan of Keith's. (5 stars)
3) Whenever I Run- I love this ballad song in the album. (5 stars)
4) What About Me- Nice song, co-written by Rodney Crowell. (5 stars)
5) You'll Think of Me- Great song about overcoming a breakup. The chorus is very catchy as well. I hope this song wins in the upcoming Grammy Awards. This song sounds awesome acoustic in concert. (5 stars)
6) Jeans On- Neat pop song on this album about jeans are a major part of Keith's life. Funny. Interesting beat. (5 stars)
7) You Look Good In My Shirt- This is such a great, fun midtempo song. You'll definitely like it. (5 stars)
8) You're Not Alone Tonight- My second favorite song on the album. Very soothing, calm, relaxing and re-assuring that whenever you are facing hard times you are not alone; there is a person in your life that will be there for you no matter what. Has nice imagery (ex: angels and muses) making it even more creative. (5 stars!!!)
9) You Won- Another song Keith co-wrote with Rodney Crowell. This one took longer to get used to, but I eventually liked it. hehe.(4 stars)
10) Song for Dad- AMAZING!!!!! The best song on "Golden Road" and probably one of my favorite male country vocal performances ever. Proves Keith is an excellent songwriter, musician and instrumentalist. Speaks about how influential his father is to him and how much he looks up to him as a role model. Should've been released as a single. This song is worth the price of the cd. Well done Keith! 6/5 stars!!!!)
11) Raining on Sunday- Great song about the things one may do when it is a boring, rainy Sunday. Starts out slow but the song builds up into an awesome ballad. (5 stars)
12) You're Not My God- A very powerful song about overcoming addiction and how several things in life should be used in moderation, cause too much is bad (ex: money and alcohol). (5 stars)
13) One Chord Song- Bonus Song one may hear upon fastforwarding the ending of the previous song. A good conclusion to this album. Shows Keith's voice being backed up with only one chord of "G" hehe. Funny Song. (5 stars)
Overall Rating: 5 stars!!!! Your CD collection is NOT complete without a copy of Keith Urban's "Golden Road." It is worth every penny.

Changed my persepective on country music... May 23, 2005
By Pimpernel Until I heard You'll Think of Me on country radio courtesy of a friend, I couldn't stand anything remotely country. The first time I heard YTOM I was hooked. I bought the album right then, and have absolutely loved it and listened to it over and over again in the past year. I like it better than his first CD (that's a good CD too though) and I may even like it better than his latest, Be Here. I never get tired of it.
1. Somebody Like You 5/5: This was a huge hit (#1 for 8 weeks) and I can see why. It's awesome! The CD has an extended ending that isn't played on the radio.
2. Who Wouldn't Wanna Be Me 5/5: I LOVE this song. Who wouldn't wanna be Keith Urban? This song is so HIM.
3. Whenever I Run 5/5: Also a great song, one of my favorites on the CD. I think he should have released it to the radio, because it probably would have gone to number 1.
4. What About Me 1/5: This is the one song that I've listened to over and over and tried to like, but I just don't like it. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just not very original. But if this is the worst Keith can do.....well, that's pretty good.
5. You'll Think of Me 5/5: Like I said, I love this song. It's not really that country, but it's an awesome song. It also has a longer ending that's rarely played on the radio.
6. Jeans On 5/5: I LOVE this song. It's kind of a funny song, I mean he's singning about putting his jeans on in the morning. He seems to be having so much fun singing it, and it's really a great song if you're in the mood for it.
7. You Look Good in My Shirt 5/5: I love the guitar on this song! And I love all the little random ad lib things that Keith throws in there.
8. You're Not Alone Tonight 3/5: I think I liked this song more in the beginning, but I have gotten kind of sick of it. It's good to listen to if you're upset though.
9. You Won 4/5: I didn't like this song much when I first got this CD, but it grows on you. I like it, even though I'm not exactly sure what it's about...
10. Song for Dad 5/5: Not a very original title, but it's a great song. It's nice to see that he feels like that about his Dad...
11. Raining on Sunday 5/5: Oh my gosh, this song....it's such a sensual song..and then with Keith singning it I just want to melt. It's the perfect song for him, and I could listen to it forever and never get sick of it.
12. You're Not My God 5/5: I didn't like this song either at first, but it's a great song. It's him--the whole story of his drug addiction and how he finally realized that he was hurting himself and decided to get help. It's definitely inspiring. Plus, there is a hidden track "One Chord Song" that is really creative and hiliarous!
Finally, as as bonus, you get the great CD insert. It's worth the $ for the insert alone...what a hot guy!

Glimpses of Country Greatness! Nov 19, 2005
By Nelson Aspen
"Author/Journalist"
Not typically a country music fan, I was initially reeled in by Urban's Australian citizenship and curious to check out how he'd managed to captivate the diehard C&W fans. After listening to the assortment of great tracks on this CD, I understood his universal appeal.
Definitely listener-friendly music for diverse audiences and gives great insight into the country/pop sensation he quickly became! A great introduction for new fans.

By CT
"KU Fan"
Keith Urban is one of the most talented musician-singer-songwriters to come along in a long time. This album is truly addicting. Every song could easily be a top 10 hit.
If you get the chance to catch him live, do it. He's an amazing live performer. His love and enthusiasm for music shines through.

Urban Rules! Dec 02, 2003
By K. N. Nelson Aussie rock-country is the freshest, hippest kick-butt music besides Rascal Flatts happening out there now. Regardless of what the critics say, fans can hear this guy's incredible talent exploding into superstardom. Keith promises this on his song "Whenever I Run" where he tells us what's happening to him right here and now where he sings "the best is yet to come". I'm a believer. "You're Not Along Tonight" is just gorgeous with the harmonies that get you in the gut. I love the unique little catch in his terrific voice. He is great on "Song for Dad" and heartbreaking on "Raining on Sunday" with the aching harmonies.Urban has outrageous mojo working for him. He has a cool name, a gorgeous Star quality look and that super hip international vibe working for him like fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman. The guitar work throughout the entire CD is outrageous. "What About Me" is telling us to pay attention to him. On "You'll Think of Me" and "You Look Good in my Shirt" the percussion is smokin'. In fact, this entire CD is smokin'.
