Best album of George's at the time Jul 10, 2000
By Jonathan Lammert George's maturation as a singer paid off with this rock solid offering. A great mix of western swing, ballads, and uptempo rockers was attained. Two of George's most popular songs, All My Ex's and Ocean Front Property, are the main attractions. Both are admittedly a little silly and not very deep, but make up for it by being simply a pleasure to listen to and sing along with. They have since become two of the hallmark songs of 80's country music. Am I Blue is a great swing number with a nice fiddle work. The best nonsingles are two rockers, Burning Flames and My Heart Won't Wander. Clever phrasing and infectious beats carry the listener along. My Heart boasts many classic lines, such as: "Fix me grapes and rib-eye gravy", "Scratch my back right where it itches", and "Straighten out my fish and tackle." Without You Here illustrates nicely the idea of homesickness, and You Can't Buy Your Way is heavily drenched in old-time honky tonk. The weakest of this set of strong songs, I'm All Behind, is still above average.

Country gold Mar 13, 2001
By Roy Levins The songs that George sang on this album really go with the title and theme of the album no song is out of place. This triple platinum classic has got to be one of his best. Of course maybe some of these songs really do not have alot of emotion to them and really do not send a message but they are still some of his best. Like on many of his albums there are always many songs with radio potential and especially on this one you get that only 3 singles were pulled from this record. Of course everyone who listens to country has heard All my ex's live in texas, Am I Blue, and Ocean Front Property because you can hear those any old day but then you have this whole other array of songs that never made it on country radio and they are really good like Hot Burning Flames and My heart won't wander very far from you look like good singles. If you enjoy George Strait's music like many then you'll most likely love Ocean Front Property, it did not debut at #1 on the Billboard charts in 1987 for nothing.
