5Takamine eg341c great out of the box  Aug 27, 2010 By outatime
Ordered the Takamine eg341c acoustic electric guitar from brook mays, and it arrived super quick and double boxed in excellent condition. There are varying descriptions of this guitar on the internet. Type in eg341c into a search engine and you'll get pictures of all sorts of takamine guitars. The guitar is glossy black with white trim, the tuners are pearl white with gold buttons. It has a TP4T built in pickup with tuner(convenient), which works great. The guitar plays great right out of the box, no need for a pro setup. There is no buzzing on any string on any fret(tried them all). The guitar is good and loud, and sounds great. Easy to play, almost as easy as an electric; easier in some respects. Great looking guitar too!

4A good G series guitar, but not the best  Feb 18, 2012 By Cresence Eberle
I have owned this Takamine for the past three years. During the period, I have also had occasion to use a friend's Takamine G540SC. The 341 is a good value guitar while the 544 is superior on technical grounds. It should be. The 544 costs about twice as much.

In general, I think the 341 is best for beginner to intermediate play. It's a good way to start playing, and a good choice for someone who would like to play casually without making a significanT investment. More accomplished players should go with the 544, which will also stand up better to constant use.

The construction of the 544 is clearly superior to the 341. It has a more solid feel to it. The pegs in particular are individually geared and slippage is minimal, whereas the 341 uses the much less expensive 3-in-1 peg strips, and the gearing seems somewhat loose and inaccurate to me.

The finish on the 341 is a glossy black that is attractive enough this although this is clearly a no-frills guitar with little in the way of other finishing touches. The 544 has a natural finish that looks superior to me, and the 544 also has some extra finishing touchs such as fretboard inlays which add to its general attractiveness.

Both have a clear and resonant sound, with the 544 seeming to be a bit fuller to me.

Both come pre-strung with D'Addario strings which are light and easy to finger. Fretboard clearance is ideal in both for a steel-string guitar.

Either guitar represents a fine value depending on your level of play and your overall objectives. If I had it to do over again, I would be very tempted to get the 544 instead of the 341, but I would be doing a lot of pondering over the extra $300. I hope this helps to put the 341 a bit better into context. Good luck..

5Nice Guitar, good price!  May 09, 2011 By justbill
I have been playing for many years, and have owned (and still own) many acoustic guitars. I have a 19 year old Takamine 12 string that I just love to death, and for some time was thinking about purchasing a 6 string twin to it, without spending lots of money. The TRUE twin to my 12 string would have run me around 1,100 dollars, and I did not want to spend that much on another guitar; so, I opted for the mid grade version, and I have to say, I am highly pleased with it. The finish is flawless Black, the neck and frets of a high quality. The tone is wonderful. The highs are high, the lows rich, full and overall, its a nice, bright, yet mellow sound. The electronics are good, as well. The guitar sounds very nice plugged in, and the graphic EQ is very responsive. The built in tuner is a nice touch, as well. Intonation is dead on with the medium Dadarrio XLP strings that came on it. Action is very nice as is. I usually use light stings on most of my acoustics, however, the mediums are not hard on the hands on this neck. Now, I'm sure that a 1,100 dollar version would have a few bells and whistles that are missing from this on, mostly cosmetic, like inlay edging, and such...however, for the money, this model is worth the price. I am a little disappointed with the plastic bridge saddle. However, that is an easy upgrade that most people can do themselves. And I may, eventually. Though For now, I'm just enjoying it as is as it sounds and plays fine just the way it is. Overall, great tone and voicing, ease of playability, nice action, great sustain, and nice looking too!
