Hunted and Killed May 06, 2009

Skynet's air support, the Hunter Killer or HK, is a sleek jet powered craft the flies around blowing the crap out of the resistance. In one sense it's just a big flying terminator. So how could I resist picking one up.
First of all I have to say that I think the $20 to $25 price tag is actually a pretty good deal. It comes with a 3 3/4" scale T-700 endoskeleton which sold by itself is $7, although here he doesn't come with any additional accessories (i.e. guns). Just using what I paid $23 minus $7 and you could argue that the HK was really $16 which is pretty cheap for a vehicle like this especially if you were interested in the T-700 anyway.
In addition to the T-700 other accessories and action features are: 2 missiles that can be fired via the standard spring loaded mechanism, retractable (and articulated) landing "feet", 4 swiveling guns (although I had to work to get the back ones loose so be careful), a wheel on top that can be used to rotate the two side mounted jets (which are removable if that counts as a feature), and an opening hatch in which you can store your T-700 - there's actually a little cradle you can snap him into so he's not just loose in there.
The look is sleek and mean; you can see it in the pictures. There is plenty of sculpted detail - not model level but for this price range really good, I was real happy with the detail on the jet engines, and there are areas of black paint applied for additional detail. It won't win any awards but it is serviceable.
If I had to point out one flaw it's that in hand it tends to feel a little too light which makes you think cheap. But then, after all, it is just a hollow piece of sculpted plastic. You just want this big killing machine to feel more solid I guess. But taking into account the price and the accessories and features I can live with it being on the light side. Overall it is a solid and fun toy.

Cheap May 11, 2011

Bought this for my son as a Christmas gift a few months after the movie came out. Cheap, cheap, cheap, the Hunter Killer engines fell off pretty much right away and never would stay in. The cats in our house still use one of the engines as a hockey puck up and down the hardwood floors.
I'm just glad my son has now outgrown needing to own any of this cheap movie tie-in junk.

Do not buy. Jun 15, 2009
By BigBird Do not waste your money on this toy.
After watching the terminator movie, I rushed out to buy this toy and when I saw that it got a positive review, I was happy & bought it.
Big Mistake. The toy is nothing better than one of those give-aways you get at fast food franchises with kids meals, albeit a little larger. Actually I got some bobble head give-aways for the kids that had more detail.
Though it has the same shape, it does not look like the picture advertised here. The Terminator & the HK are the same dark black color where here the HK is pictured as a metallic Grey. It does not have any blue "sensor array" in front, the entire thing is just black & has none of the detail is painted whatsoever, except for 4 soft plastic guns (1 of which is curved so you cant point it straight).
To give you an idea of what I mean about the surface, imagine the inside of any plastic mold, such as a remote control. It does have lines & ridges going through, but that's it.
It is also poorly designed. It sits better with it's 3 legs up than with it's 3 legs down as the rear legs 1. go too far back 2. are too close together 3. hve too small a foot print; the front leg is just too short, it barely clears the guns in the front.
If you leave the legs up & stand it, it sits just fine without dropping the legs & raising it's center of gravity.
Also, it is hollow, light and feels very cheap. The terminator is supposed to be held inside it however the terminator's shoulders are about 1mm wider than the inside of the HK so you have to fiddle his arms to get it to work.
The engines rotate, however the mechanism to rotate them is so free & loose that you will not be able to hold the engines in the same position for very long.
