3Decent But Not Great  Sep 19, 1999
I bought this soundtrack thinking that it would include the songs that River Phoenix and the other actors sang in the movie, and was really disappointed to find that they were not on it. The CD only included the versions of the songs by the original singers. The songs are decent, but I honestly think that the actors made them sound better, especially the talented Mr.Phoenix!

3DISAPPOINTED  Jan 08, 2000
I bought this also thinking that I'd be able to hear River Pheonix and Samantha Mathis singing as they did in the movie.. If those tracks were on the the CD, I would have easily given this soundtrack a 5 star rating.. As it is, I'm being generous by giving it 3 stars.. BOO to the record producers who didn't include those songs on the soundtrack!

1WHERE'S THE REST OF THE SONGS ??  Nov 19, 2004 By BabyGirl26 "Christyne"
The Thing Called Love is My Favorite Movie, due to Samantha Mathis and River Phoenix, they had such great chemistry in this movie/and off screen, but also the Fantastic Songs in the movie,It just makes you want to dance and sing throughout the whole movie ! You would think this would be one of the best soundtracks ever ! WRONG !! This is like half a soundtrack with "professional" singers singing. Honestly i thought the actors in the movie sounded Way Better then the people singing on this cd. I am glad i did'nt buy this soundtrack, just listening to the samples you get an idea of how unreconizable this cd is.

It is a shame and very disapointing that they did not use the actors from the movie for this cd, and a lot of the songs i wanted to hear are not even on here. I really wish they would make a new soundtrack that includes EVERY song from the movie with Samantha,River and the rest singing. I am trying to gather as much songs as i can and download them to make my own soundtrack. I have also downloaded Unitl Now and State of mine(which is not on the cd), River Phoenix actually singing them from the movie. These were songs he actually wrote himself and this guy on the soundtrack singing "Unitl Now" does not do it justice. This would have to be one of the worst soundtracks ever due to the producers who Messed The Whole Thing Up ! It is really sad that such a great movie gets such a Horrible Soundtrack. It does not do justice to the movie at all ! But I definatley recommend buying the movie. I am just waiting for it to come out on dvd !

3Where are they now?  Jan 18, 2000
Enough people buy this soundtrack assuming they'll be able to hear the tracks laid down by River Phoenix, Sarah Mathison, Sandra Bullock and Dermott Mulroney during the movie. Yet, that is not the case. Is there a bootleg copy of the soundtrack out there that would appease us? Not that we don't enjoy the songs; however, we want to hear them the way they were performed in the movie. Can anyone direct us in the appropriate location? Thanks - Kristen

1What You're Looking For Is NOT Here!  Aug 22, 2000 By Sandi Hultman "SandiDandi"
I was so excited to get this CD as a gift. What a disappointment to have neither of the Samantha Mathis songs on it, especially "Big Bar Hair" (what a fun song) and "Maybe God's a Woman Too." Returned it without even opening the CD, as I mainly wanted those two songs! Guess I'll have to keep rewinding the videotape to hear them. Bummer....
